How come Alton brown never competes?

You know, of course theres the Iron chefs but Rachel Ray and Paula Deen and Giada have been guests on that show, but wouldnt it be sweet to see Alton do something like that? Or Alton and Bobby go head to head on 'Throwdown'! Does anyone know if he personally doesn't ever want to or it just hasn't happened yet?
