Why did so much human progression happen in such little time?

When you think about it...they say sapiens first showed up 200,000 years ago, and the stone didn't even end till just a couple thousand...meaning the first 195,000+ years of sapien existence was during the stone age...then a few more thousands years through the bronze and iron ages and many more ages up until today...so how come there was such little progression not only technologically, but with the accepting of people that "are different," and other various things like that, over 199,000+ years, and just within the last couple centuries or more things finally evolved, but to such an extreme level in such little time?
