What cateclysm will it take to found the next new major religion?

Most religions are based on ancient cultural mythology (before anyone thumbs down me, the scholarly definition of mythology does not imply that it is untrue or not based on actual occurances; it only implies a collection of stories that explain nature or events). Most "religions" based on outside current events tend to be cults, and shortlived at that. Religion evolves from what already exists, so, no, I don't hink a new religion would result from dissatisfaction or a charismatic leader, but a new cult might, or the evolution of a new denomination. These have already occured throughout history (cults: Jim Jones, David Koresh, etc denominations: the Protestant denominations, Pentecostals, Baptists, etc), and will continue to do so.
